Developed pitch:
After considering our ideas on doing a paranormal movie trailer we later became more inspired by the idea of creating a more psychological style trailer. This occurred due to our cast being more suited to a psychological film where the characters allow us to get more creative with shots and scenes.
By looking at other psychological horrors we discovered the case of Dr Hannibal Lector was particularly interesting and that horror/thriller films which were made about him were hugely successful. Therefore, we are inspired by films such as The Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon which both followed the inspection of him and his murders. Whilst taking inspiration from these trailers we do want to include more shots of victims being killed/harassed by our killer. We feel as though this will make the trailer more tense and scary for our target audience and hook them in to make them want to see the film. |

Initial pitch:
Our initial idea is to create a paranormal horror film trailer by taking inspiration from films such as Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity.
We like the look of these trailers and this style of horror film because of the suspense they create for the audience. We feel as though a paranormal trailer would be exciting yet challenging as we want to engage our target audience with the plot.
Furthermore, both these trailers have used different locations and gone from different angles in order to hook the audience whilst making them scared. Blair Witch is filmed in a very isolated location which the audience will find particularly distressing due to the fact it's uncertain what may happen. However, Paranormal Activity has taken a different approach by setting the majority of their film in a family home. The difference with filming in the home is that the audience will be able to relate to the victims' situation and automatically feel tense and scared by putting themselves in their shoes. A home is considered a safe space whereas the film challenges this view. Our horror movie trailer is mainly going to take inspiration from Paranormal Activity as we feel the location is more practical for us to film in. The lightening and camera techniques in Blair Witch is something we are going to consider as it allows us to feel like they are in the scene which will grip the audience. |
